JoJo Dable’s high slot wristshot was the difference in a triple-overtime South Shore King 3-2 win against the Northern Cyclones in a win-or-go-home situation for both teams in the double elimination tournament.
The goal was scored at 101:58 of the game, making it the second longest in NCDC history after the Mercer / P.A.L. Game 1 of their Atlantic Division Championship series was ended by P.A.L. at 102:31 on April 8.
The Kings were able to kill off a Cyclones power play in the first overtime, and then they had to do it again in the second OT and were also successful there.
The Kings got on the board quickly to start the game, with Jake Kavanagh scoring 40 seconds in, assisted by Tyler Maxner and Hunter Bruce. Bruce put the Kings up 2-0 at the 8:05 mark of the first period, with assists from Zachary Walsh and Gregor Jennersjo, on the power play.
At 13:10 of the second, the Cyclones made sure this one got much more interesting. Aidan Petroff scored his third goal of the tournament, assisted by Noah Tano.
It was Carson Strapon’s shorthanded goal that tied the game at 7:41 of the third period.
Beau Lane stopped 51 of 53 shots in the win, and for the Cyclones, Paul Dalessio made 41 saves on 44 shots.
