Games of Sept. 19-22, 2024
Forward: Christian Day, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights
Day (‘04/Barre, Vt.) helped the Knights to two one-goal games against the Rockets Hockey Club to begin their season fully in the wins column. On Sept. 20, he put up a goal and an assist, and the next day, he put up a 1-2-3 scoring line for five points in two games. He is a second-year Knights player who was acquired last fall.
Defense: Harrison Kinne, West Chester Wolves
Kinne (‘05/Swampscott, Mass.) put up two assists in the first game of the Wolves’ existence, pushing them to their first-ever win on Sept. 20, 4-1 over the P.A.L. Jr. Islanders. His continued strong defensive play the rest of the weekend helped the Wolves start out 2-0-1-0 taking first place in the NCDC overall after the first weekend.
Goaltender: Michael Shelley, Connecticut Jr. Rangers
Shelley (‘05/Stafford, Va.) is a shining example of USPHL Advancement In Action. He first started in the USPHL 16U (now THF 16U) Division in 2019-20, playing for the Potomac Patriots 16U team. After another season with that team, he moved up to the Patriots’ USPHL Elite and Premier teams in 2021-22. He’s back in the USPHL now, and his NCDC debut was absolutely stunning. He stopped 48 of 49 shots in a 2-1 overtime victory on Sept. 21.
Rookie: Ty Oller, Jersey Hitmen
The Hitmen’s homegrown product Oller (‘05/Wayne, N.J.) saw two games with the NCDC last season, but was mostly a star player with the Hitmen 18U AAA program in the Tier 1 Hockey Federation. He has posted a 1-3-4 line for his first NCDC points.
