NCDC Mountain Division Players Of The Month: February 2025

Forwards

Sammy Grimaldi, Idaho Falls Spud Kings

Mr. Hat Trick! Grimaldi scored three of his four hat tricks on the season in February, including back-to-back hatties on Feb. 27 and 28. The final damage (to goalies) for the month was 13 goals along with three assists for 16 points. For the season, he has a 21-8-29 line in 39 games.  

 

Matsvei Marschanok, Pueblo Bulls 

One Marshchanok or the other has been at or near the top of the NCDC scoring leaderboard essentially from the start of the season to now. Matsvei Marschanok (‘05/Minsk, Belarus) stands with 60 points on the season for second overall – behind only twin brother Siamion Marshchanok’s 65 points. During February, Matsvei scored eight goals and eight assists for 16 points, averaging two points per game. 

 

Garrett Joss, Utah Outliers 

Joss (‘04/Whitby, Ont.) had an impressive performance during a 6-game stretch. He racked up 10 goals and contributed two assists. This resulted in a total of 12 points and an average of 2.00 points per game, highlighting his significant impact on the Outliers’ offensive production. He stands with 49 points in 44 games this season and 110 points in 97 career games for the Outliers. 

 

Forward Honorable Mention: Siamion Marshchanok, Pueblo Bulls 

 

Defense

Owen Tatro, Casper Warbirds

Tatro (‘05/Colchester, Vt.) had his biggest offensive month of the season with six assists in seven games, helping him to nine points on the season. Tatro joined the Warbirds this year from the prestigious Cushing Academy. 

 

Mykyta Bondariev, Pueblo Bulls

Bondariev (‘06/Kyiv, Ukraine) sent home two goals and added six assists for eight points in eight games during the month of February. Bondariev stands sixth in NCDC defenseman scoring with 36 points in 44 games. 

 

Defense Honorable Mention: Trevor Stewart, Pueblo Bulls

 

Goaltender: 

Noel Friedman, Pueblo Bulls 

The Colorado Springs, Colo. native went 4-0 during February, stopping 117 of 121 shots, including an epic 42-save performance against the division-leading Idaho Falls Spud Kings, as well as a 21-save shutout against the Rock Springs Grizzlies. He stands at 7-1-0-0 on the season. Friedman started the season with the Atlanta MadHatters in the USPHL Premier, earning the in-season call-up – USPHL Advancement In Action!

 

Goaltender Honorable Mention: Marcus Ouellet, Utah Outliers

 

Selection Process: The division’s coaches are presented with a ballot form with statistical leaders (ranked by points per game average for skaters and save percentage for goaltenders) and vote on that form. The league takes the results of that vote and presents the coaches with the finalists, who are able to vote on further changes if desired.
